Will the ‘Recycle Me’ campaign push Coke and Ogilvy up the rankings? Find out this week

For the first time, The Drum is publishing a mid-year update to the World Creative Rankings this week, providing a glimpse into the advertisers and agencies leading the way so far in 2024.

As always, the full rankings will follow in the new year after the 2024 calendar of creative awards is complete. But with four of the six majors of the year already wrapped, this release hints at the companies that will be in contention to top the final tables.

The mid-year leaderboard for agencies and holding companies is now live. The top 20 advertisers will follow on Thursday (25 July). And on Friday, we’ll take an in-depth look at the best campaigns of the year so far.

Some 1,106 campaigns from 732 advertisers working with 629 agencies have been analyzed to produce this mid-year report.

For 2024, The Drum has reformulated the points system that drives the rankings, with awards competitions now grouped as global majors and regional and local shows.

Majors are defined as shows attracting global entries and that have global representation on juries. Regional shows are focused on specific geographies or have unique elements in categories or juries. Local shows are for local or single markets and allow an opportunity for breakthrough work from smaller countries, companies and teams to be featured in the rankings.

After reviewing the shows with our research and editorial teams and in dialogue with our creative community, we have arranged them in the following structure:

  • Majors: The Drum Awards, Cannes Lions, D&AD, The Clio Awards, The One Show, London International Awards
  • Regional: Spikes Asia, Gerety, AdFest, Golden Drum, The New York Advertising Awards, Epica, Cresta, Eurobest, El Ojo, The Andy’s, Dubai Lynx, Kinsale Sharks
  • Local: ADC US, Danish Creative Circle, The Loeries, ADCC, Guldagget

This week’s rankings are a snapshot of the current picture and there’s still all to play for to determine the final standings in the next annual World Creative Rankings.

As one of the Majors, The Drum Awards Festival in November and specifically its creative categories will have a big bearing on the eventual outcome. Entries are open until July 31 at thedrumawards.com.
