With the now-infamous glass of fizzy rose wine in hand, the huge out-of-home (OOH) activation featuring the hit show’s vanquished star is situated at Westfield.

Since season 2 of The Traitors kicked off, former teacher and Northern Irish legend Diane Carson has been a firm fan favorite. Viewers relished watching her play detective and gasped when it was revealed that she was actually the mother of another player.

“Paul couldn’t be my son,” she told the camera slyly. “But Ross is.” It’s a secret that the two of them kept quiet between themselves.

But sadly, the no-nonsense, straight-talking mum was booted off the BBC show after drinking a poisoned chalice that was not-so-subtly handed to her by fellow contestant, and traitor, Miles. Her son, Ross, vowed to avenge his mother’s ‘killing’ but sadly his efforts were a little haphazard and he too has since been banished.

Leaning into all the buzz around the show, BBC’s in-house team has created a “camp” and “iconic” billboard showing a larger-than-life image of ‘Ar Diane’ as she is affectionately referred to. It’s already been widely shared across social media, including on the cultural phenomenon Instagram page Hunsnet.

“My partner Holly Nash and I had the idea along with Fred Rodwell 24 hours before it went out, so time was super tight and the design team, production and media worked incredibly hard and fast to get it over the line,” Alysha Radia, creative at BBC Creative told The Drum.

“We personally went down to Westfield to shoot the billboard ourselves. A mad day but totally worth it. Anything for Diane! So glad people love it. It all ended in Diane and Ross sliding into our DMs to say how thrilled they were with it, which was wild.”

The much-anticipated finale of The Traitors will air this evening on BBC at 9pm.
