COMIC CON LOGO.pngThe 9th edition of the Maruti Suzuki Arena Mumbai Comic Con came to a grand conclusion after giving the city #TheBestWeekendOfTheYear with  two days of high-intensity fun, frolic, and enjoyment that left the Comic Fans of the city and afar and near coming together for the most amazing experiences.

Hosted at the Bombay Exhibition Centre on Sunday, the event built on the successful reception with more fans and cosplayers congregating to celebrate pop culture in style.

The enthusiastic crowd at Mumbai Comic Con was given the first-time access to several top international artists such as the UK-based comic book artist Alison Sampson, who interacted at length about her work as well as the upcoming ‘HIT-GIRL in Mumbai’ series and Sachi Ediriweera,an accomplished designer and comic book artist from Sri Lanka who created ‘Lionborn’, the country’s first English graphic novel.

Mumbai’s fan community also swayed to the beats of the city’s very own rappers, Jizzy & TS from Dependent Artists, while being treated to a groovy and power packed dance performance by Choreo Culture.

A special performance by Geekfruit yet again brought alive the Comic-Con Playlist on the second day, even the illusionist Karan Singh amazed the audience with his unique act at the main Arena Stage.

The fans of the homegrown comics were seen surrounding artists Abhijeet Kini to get an autographed copy of his brand-new comic books,‘Ek Din Ka Hero’ & ‘Fun Tales of India’. The event also witnessed other exciting launches like the Toylaxy line of action figures and a new comic by Animagix Studios,‘Chiko – The Accidental Hero’.

Sumit Kumar from team Bakarmax was also seen interacting with the crowd about his latest webcomic titles, while Vivek Goel received a positive response for his latest bestseller, ‘Age of Immortals & Shaitan’. The event also saw other Indian comic book publishers, illustrators, webcomic creators, and writers like Alicia Souza, Rakesh Khanna, Shubham (Corporat Comics), Saumin Patel, Sailesh Gopalan (Brown PaperBag), and Bhagya Babu (Awkwerrrd) interacting with the passionate crowd.

Retail stalls by key exhibitors like Penguin Random House, Hachette, Simon & Schuster, Planet Superheroes, Wizplex, Amar Chitra Katha, The Souled Store, Superhero Toy Store, Epic Stuff, Nerd Arena, Redwolf and crossword Bookstoresremain a hit as the crowd thronged them all to take home a memory of their Comic Con experience.

Action-packed interactive sessions hosted by AXN Live R.E.D. and an exciting line-up of immersive zones like Maruti Suzuki Arena, Doritos, Games the Shop,Warner BrosWWEand Hamleys were the key attractions at the convention. Popular faces from the entertainment fraternity-like Arunabh Kumar (Director and Founder of The Viral Fever), Alok Sharma, actor/filmmaker/entrepreneur Lianne Texeira-Singh, film director Sriram Raghawan, and writer and actor Vasan Bala also graced the event.

The show, however, was stolen by the nostalgic buzz surrounding the Comedy Central zone that recreated the Central Perk coffeehouse – featuring the iconic orange couch from the popular sitcom F.R.I.E.N.D.S! Fans of the series were caught with their selfie faces on, clicking away happily as they sought to recreate their favourite F.R.I.E.N.D.S moment.

With so many exciting launches, remarkable artist sessions, and fabulous performances, the Mumbai Comic Con 2019 has definitely paved the way for a fantastic New Year forpop culture fans in the entertainment Capital of India!
