British Airways distorts passport pictures to replicate speedy boarding

The airline and Uncommon take a 45mph leaf blower to people’s faces to demonstrate the speed of boarding.

British Airways Cityflyer has manipulated passport pictures to illustrate the speed of getting through security at London City Airport.

Uncommon is behind the campaign which uses a leaf blower to capture images of people looking like they are traveling at a fast speed.

Portrait and fashion photographer Emily Stein captured the images which feature on out-of-home (OOH) and digital OOH placements across London’s key business areas.

Running between March and April, the ads promote the fact it takes 20 minutes from security to boarding at London City Airport.

Ellie Daghlian and Elisa Czerwenka, creatives at Uncommon, said: “When it came to the passport pages themselves, we tried it all. Flying letters, signatures taking off, hair leaving the frame – but in the end, we let the photo do the main job, with subtle illustrations supporting it. It felt cleaner that way, and allowed the focus to go to the right places.”
