Ad of the Day: England team reimagined without immigration
Wonderhood Studios has put together an out-of-home and social campaign that encourages England football fans to imagine what the team would look like without the benefit of immigration.

A new poster designed by Wonderhood Studios for the Migration Museum ponders what the England team would look like without immigration. Only Pickford, Stones and Foden remain in the starting 11, while the names of stars such as Bellingham, Saka, Walker and Kane are all struck out.
With immigration being debated heavily over the course of the election and the racist abuse suffered by Black players during Euro 2020 still fresh in the minds of many, Wonderhood Studios was tasked with helping to reframe the topic of immigration.

“The strategy was to get England fans talking more positively about migration by asking them to consider what might have happened to the England team without it,” said Wonderhood Studios deputy executive creative director Jack Croft.
“From the announcement of the starting lineup to our incredible five penalty takers, you can’t deny that migration is a success story for our mostly loved – and sometimes loathed – national sport,” added deputy executive creative director Stacey Bird.

All of the players highlighted in the poster have either been born overseas or were the children or grandchildren of immigrants.
The Migration Museum is located in Lewisham, South London, a borough where, according to the 2021 Census, 52% of the population is made up of ethnic minority groups.
